December 17th, 1903. Man flew for the first time. And so did we. Inside that first airplane was fuel from Standard Oil (the Exxon brand predecessor) and lubricants from Vacuum Oil Company (the Mobil brand predecessor).
As you might guess, we're very proud to have been there at Kitty Hawk. But we're even happier about where we are now - still leaders and innovators in aviation, trusted by pilots, crews and passengers everywhere. The first flight may have lasted only 12 seconds, but has lifted our business for 100 years.
